>Install Rooted Stock Android 2.2 FroYo ROM on HTC Desire CDMA

While we have been covering the GSM version of HTC Desire a lot here at AddictiveTips, we haven’t showed much love to the CDMA variant and we’re changing that by bringing you the rooted stock Android 2.2 FroYo ROM meant exclusively for CDMA HTC Desire.
Brought to us by XDA-Developers forum member EddyOS, this Android ROM is pretty much stock in most ways except for the addition of the following features to make it more flexible for power users:
  • Rooted,
  • Deodexed,
  • A2SD enabled (Minimum 512MB EXT3 partition required),
  • BusyBox installed,
  • Init.d support (to facilitate power saving mods),
  • Zip aligned apps (for more efficient memory usage),
  • 3-in-1 boot menu added,
  • Several large apps moved to /data from /system, including Facebook, Adobe Reader, MySpace, Google Maps, Gmail, Adobe Flash Player 10.1, Google Street View and YouTube.
The ROM also retains all USCC apps to keep it as close to stock as possible. If you have had enough of the details and want to get straight to the installation procedure, here it is:
Disclaimer: Please follow this guide at your own risk. Tiptz will not be liable if your device gets damaged or bricked during the process.
  1. Download the ROM from the link given above and copy it to your phone’s SD card.
  2. Reboot your phone into recovery.
  3. Perform a nandroid backup.
  4. Wipe data, cache and Dalvik cache.
  5. Flash the ROM’s zip file from recovery.
  6. Reboot your device.
If you don’t know how to perform any of these steps, see our guide on flashing an Android ROM from recovery. For updates or help with any issues, head over to the XDA-Developers forum thread.
