>Get Overlay Scrollbar In Ubuntu Linux

It is expected that Ubuntu 2D unity will contain an overlay scrollbar in the final version. This scrollbar only appears on mouse hover and otherwise remains invisible. This overlay scrollbar has recently entered its testing stage for the Ubuntu desktop. The Ayatana scroll bar team has released a test version which you can try on your existing Ubuntu 11.04 operating system. In this post we will tell you how to get this overlay scrollbar.

To get the overlay scroll bar, enter the following commands in the Terminal from Application –> Accessories:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ayatana-scrollbar-team/release  sudo apt-get update  sudo apt-get install liboverlay-scrollbar-0.1-0

You will also require setting an environment variable to run applications with the overlay scrollbars. For example, the following command results in giving Appearance Preferences the overlay scrollbar.

LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=foo gnome-appearance-properties

You can watch the below video to get an overview of the Overlay Scrollbar.
